We are shocked and saddened at the loss of Ken Rosskopf, former Propel ATL (Atlanta Bicycle Coalition) board member and a pioneering legend in the local cycling community. Ken passed away on Saturday, Aug. 23 after sustaining injuries in a bike crash near his home in Decatur the prior evening.

A little more than a week later, in a relevant but unrelated development, Decatur's City Commission approved a lower speed limit on Clairemont Ave., where the crash occurred. Once final administrative steps are taken, the speed limit on this busy roadway will decrease from 35 to 30 miles per hour.
An attorney and advocate, Ken Rosskopf founded Bike Law Georgia, co-founded the national Bike Law organization, and mentored partner Bruce Hagen prior to his recent retirement. Ken penned a guide on representing injured cyclists for the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and contributed to The Georgia Law Enforcement Pocket Guide and Georgia Bike Sense.

He could always be counted on to supply wisdom, not just to fellow attorneys, but to cyclists as well.
Even in his 80s Ken was a daily cyclist, and had been a road bike racer on the senior (masters) circuit, with national and state championships to his credit. Son Joey Rosskopf was a professional cyclist who retired from the pro tour just last year, and has engaged in fundraising activities on behalf of our work.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Ken's wife, Linda, and his family.
