Location: Remote workplace with some in-person meetings and engagements. Candidates must reside in the MARTA service area of metro Atlanta by the start date of employment.

Propel ATL, formerly the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition and PEDS, seeks an enthusiastic community member to join our team as Program Coordinator.Â

Position Summary
The main purpose of the Program Coordinator position is to ensure the effective implementation of our programs by managing administrative tasks, coordinating the logistics of program activities, and building community partnerships.Â
Propel ATL programs include Bicycle Safety Education and Walk ATL. Program activities include classes, bike rides, webinars, outreach events, walk audits, and meetings. The Program Coordinator supports partnerships and helps mobilize public support for our mission. Â
This position has a particular focus on direct services and engagement. The Program Coordinator builds and cultivates strong relationships with community-based organizations, advocacy partners, residents, supporters, and volunteers. They also manage program contractors and vendors. Â
This position requires both instructional and administrative duties and serves as an important link between our program participants and our organization. Through our programs, the person in this role will have the opportunity to engage in a range of policy issues.Â
Responsibilities
Â
Overall Programs
- Inform and support planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs activities, policies, procedures, and processes.
- Ensure effective program operations in alignment with program implementation and evaluation plans and grant deliverables.
- Serve as the main point of contact for program participants, providing guidance, answering questions, and connecting them with resources to support their success in a Propel ATL program.Â
- Assist with program budget preparation and monitoring to include budget tracking, processing invoices, and other financial transactions.Â
- Create and maintain program records, reports, presentations, and proposals.
- Develop program schedules, both internally and externally with program contractors and vendors.
- Work collaboratively with staff to integrate The Untokening’s Principles of Mobility Justice into programs.
- Support program participants and community partners in understanding transportation inequities and mobility justice opportunities.
Bicycle and Pedestrian Programs
- Provide instruction and ensure proper staffing for bicycle safety education classes.
- Update and develop bicycle safety education curriculum and materials as needed. Â
- Organize and support a diverse affiliation of certified bicycle instructors to provide bicycle safety education, with a priority on equitable outcomes.
- Coordinate neighborhood-based pedestrian safety program activities, with a priority on equitable outcomes
Communications and EngagementÂ
- Generate compelling content and coordinate program communications including social media posts, web content, outreach materials and storytelling that amplifies the experiences of advocacy and community partners.
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships that engage community members in our campaigns, programs, and events, including volunteer recruitment.
- Inform and support planning, implementation, and evaluation of organizational engagement strategies.
- Communicate the ideas, priorities, challenges, concerns, and other feedback expressed in-person and across communication channels by community partners and program participants to the appropriate internal team members.
Other Responsibilities
- In collaboration with staff, manage event and large meeting logistics and operations, including virtual or hybrid events.
- Support implementation of advocacy initiatives in coordination with the advocacy team as needed.Â
Qualifications
Successful candidates will exhibit the following qualifications:Â
EXPERIENCE
- Has coordinated nonprofit program operations and activities (or equivalent) for a minimum of one year – including financial, administrative, and logistical responsibilities.
- Has been involved in coalition building, community advocacy, and community/civic engagement initiatives for a minimum of one year.
- Has constructively worked with and on behalf of individuals and communities most impacted by ongoing racial injustices, systemic oppression, and racial disparities.
- Has organized community-based initiatives, enlisting in-person, social media, and other engagement channels.
- Has organized and facilitated community and/or stakeholder meetings.
- Has created compelling public-facing content – especially written – such as website content, newsletters, social media content, and email campaigns.
- Has used collaborative project management platforms and digital tools to generate and present work products, organize work, and manage relationships.
KNOWLEDGE
- Fully understands grantor-grantee relations and obligations as it relates to delivery of grant-funded programs.
- Understands the unique aspects of cohort-based programs, including the stages of participant engagement, transition points, and group dynamics.
- Is familiar with the fundamentals of program evaluation.
- Proficient in managing data related to program participants, tracking progress, and generating reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of event planning and logistics management, including coordinating orientations, information sessions, workshops, and on-site events.
- Is familiar with Atlanta’s communities, community institutions and community-based organizations.
- Recognizes and understands Atlanta’s history — especially, its racial disparities and record of intentional harm perpetrated by white supremacist policies and actions.
- Understands developments, resources, and information related to community engagement principles and strategies.
- Is able to ride a bike in mixed city traffic and off-street trails.
- Has a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) certification or equivalent or is willing to pursue.
- Has a First Aid/CPR certification for adults and children or is willing to pursue.
- Working knowledge of bicycle maintenance, including flat repair and regular maintenance tasks.
- Is able to pass a background check.

Hybrid: Fully remote, requires some evenings and weekends as well as in-person engagements as necessary for the responsibilities of the position.
Physical requirements for this position: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally and up to 10 lbs. frequently to move objects.

Employer pays 50% of each employee’s medical insurance premium, in addition to partial dental and vision, and fully covered basic life and long-term disability insurance.
