All-Ages Access: Making Transportation Work for Youth and Aging Adults

Make a positive change in the West End community that leads to a safer, more accessible, more comfortable walking environment for all ages. 

We invite you to join us for our first Walk with a Planner community walk audit. Walk with our planners to document conditions, such as inadequate sidewalks and crosswalks, that make it difficult to walk to your desired destinations -- schools, parks, stores, etc.

The event will bring together participants of all ages -- from students to seniors -- gathering valuable insights and perspectives on the walkability of the neighborhood.

What We Will Do

1. Guided Walk Audit: Use the AARP walk audit tool to observe and evaluate the walkability of the West End neighborhood, highlighting what makes their streets feel comfortable for walking, safety concerns, accessibility issues, and opportunities for improvement.
2. Technical Support: Experienced planners will lead discussion and provide technical expertise during the walk audit to identify potential solutions and improvements that enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility.
3. Summarize and Share: We will summarize the insights and proposed solutions gathered during the walk audit and share with residents. The summary will also be shared with transportation agencies and officials to advocate for necessary changes and improvements.
