Atlanta is a city of doers.
We are not content sitting on the sidelines waiting for our city to make improvements. We make our own change. And that's why we are launching our first-ever advocacy bootcamp.
We want to give Atlantans the confidence to take bike advocacy into their own hands and make Atlanta a better place to live! Advocacy Bootcamp participants will learn the ins and outs of local advocacy issues, hear from guest speakers leading the change, and walk away with the tools to become a powerful advocate in your community.
Need more reasons of why you should apply for the bootcamp?
1. It's much more fun than an actual bootcamp!
We won't make you throw any tires across the room or lift kettlebells at our bootcamp. You will however, build up some pretty intimidating bike advocacy muscles that will make you a lean, mean change-making machine!
2. Uncode the alphabet soup of urban planning: From ARC's to TOD's.
The world of transportation planning is complex. If you try making sense of it on your own, you'll probably end up with a big ol' I-285-at-rush-hour-grade headache. And nobody wants that!
3. Learn from some Atlanta big-wigs.
Our advocacy bootcamp will give you the chance to rub elbows with the change-makers of Atlanta. From influential journalists to city planners and visionaries, you'll have the chance to learn from the best of the best.
4. Help lead one of our future advocacy efforts
This bootcamp isn't meant to fill your brain with knowledge, so you can be the coolest person at the next urban-planning nerd party (although that's just an added benefit)! We want you to take everything you learn from this class and apply it to future advocacy efforts. We have a lot of really great things we're planning, but we're going to need the help of a handful of talented folks! And that could be you.
5. Take on the glamorous role of ABC guinea pig.
This is our first Advocacy Bootcamp we've ever organized. So your input means a lot to us. After completing the program, you'll have the opportunity to help us shape future bike advocacy bootcamps by letting us know what you liked about the program, what you didn't, and what we should do next time for future classes.
