Mission

Propel ATL — formerly known as the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition (ABC) and Pedestrians Educating Drivers on Safety (PEDS) — envisions an Atlanta where everyone can move safely, easily, and sustainably throughout the city.

Our mission is to transform Atlanta’s streets into safe, inclusive, and thriving spaces for people to ride, walk, and roll.

Guiding Principles

  • sustainable transportation options that are as accessible, prevalent, and respected as driving is today
  • social and racial justice as outlined by The Untokening’s Principles of Mobility Justice. We are committed to building a transportation system that ensures access to opportunity through investments that repair the harmful effects of institutional racism and foster an inclusive community
  • collaboration and are committed to working collectively with and in service to community
  • accountability and are committed to transparency and openness to ideas, feedback, and growth that build trust
  • effectiveness and are committed to forethought, adaptability, persistence, and resourcefulness to foster progress

Founded in 1991 by local environmental activists to improve conditions for cycling, our organization worked to make biking equitable, safe, and appealing.

In 2019, we created a new strategic plan with our partners, members, and supporters. Our 2020-2025 strategic plan responds to changes in our environment and work with the updated mission and vision above and expanded goals, including promoting and supporting walking and transit.
