Will you come?

No family should have to navigate the aftermath of traffic violence alone.

Atlanta Families for Safe Streets (AFSS) is a survivor- and family-led community for people who have been directly impacted by traffic violence. Our monthly meetings are a chance to connect with others who understand and build a community to advocate for safer streets together.

What to Expect

Each meeting is a little different, but you can expect a welcoming, supportive evening that includes:

  • A light meal starting at 6:30PM before the meeting begins at 7:00PM (vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options available);*
  • Getting to know each other and welcoming new members;
  • Learning more about AFSS and the purpose of this community;
  • Updates and variable agenda items based on current campaigns;
  • Opportunities to share your story, if and when you feel comfortable; and
  • Time to connect with other families and survivors who have been through similar experiences.

There is no pressure to speak or share your story. Come as you are and participate in whatever way feels right for you.

*If you have specific dietary needs, please let us know when you RSVP, so we can plan accordingly.

Who Should Attend

AFSS welcomes people in the Atlanta region who have been directly impacted by traffic violence, including:

  • Families who have lost a loved one
  • Survivors of crashes
  • People navigating the aftermath of a serious crash

Your friends and family are welcome, too. Bring the people who support you. And if you’re not sure whether this space is for you, you are welcome to reach out or simply join us.

Getting There & Building Access

The meeting will be held at Ohio River South (235 Mitchell St SW, Suite 400) in downtown Atlanta. Please note that the location is MARTA accessible (closest to Five Points station and Garnett). There is limited street parking, but there are parking lots on adjacent streets. When you arrive:

  1. You can expect security at the front door. Let them know you're there the AFSS meeting.
  2. Once you enter the building, walk to the back where you will find the elevators.
  3. Go to the fourth floor (Ohio River South) where the rest of the AFSS crew will be!

If you or someone you know has been affected by traffic violence, we invite you to join us. RSVP above to receive more details.
