Peachtree Street is Atlanta’s most iconic corridor, and one of its most dangerous places to cross on foot.
Every day, people who live, work, commute, and visit Atlanta are asked to navigate wide, fast-moving traffic every day. Recent deaths have made clear what many already knew: this crossing is unsafe, and delays are costing lives.
The City of Atlanta has already completed designs for a safer crosswalk. A raised crosswalk option exists that would slow traffic, improve visibility, and prioritize people walking.
We are calling on Atlanta’s leadership to act now.
Our demands:
- Reinstall the Peachtree Street crosswalk project in 2026
-
Make it a raised crosswalk (example pictured below)
- Advance the Peachtree Safe Streets project funded by Moving Atlanta Forward

It’s not about funding.
It’s about urgency and political will.

Why We’re Gathering on Peachtree Street
Join the February 11 press conference
After months of documented concern and completed design plans, the lack of action at this crossing has become impossible to ignore.
On February 11, community members and families impacted by traffic violence will gather on Peachtree Street near 225 Peachtree Street, where the crosswalk once existed, to publicly call for the implementation of the safer, raised crosswalk design.
Press Conference: February 11, 12:00 PM
Location: Near 225 Peachtree Street (exact location to be confirmed)
Purpose: Urge the City of Atlanta to act on safety plans that already exist and reduce ongoing risk
Exact timing and the specific side of the street will be shared with signers as details are finalized.
Sign the petition to stay informed and stand with us on Peachtree Street.
This campaign is led by Atlanta Families for Safe Streets, a community of families and individuals directly affected by traffic violence. If this issue has affected you or your family, support and connection are available.
