    True Beginners

    Get ready to join the pedal-powered revolution sweeping through Atlanta! With more and more people riding bikes for fitness, commuting, and exploring the city, it's time for you to learn how to ride a bike!

    This class is designed for true beginners – whether you're a kid or an adult riding for the first time or you've ridden in the past but still feel shaky on the pedals, we've got you covered. 

    There will be a limited number of youth and adult bikes for participants to use, but if you have a bike, please bring it! We ask that all participants bring a helmet for safety. If you don't have a helmet, please let me know before class at [email protected]

    Throughout these classes, we'll cover:

    • Helmet fit - two finger rule

    • Know your bike

    • Bike safety – ABC Quick Check

    Fundamentals

    • Brakes

    • Balance

    • Coast

    • Pedal

    • Stop

    • Power start

    Safety essentials

    • Road rules (bike as a vehicle)

    • Safe riding practices

    • What to carry

    Advanced skills

    • Scanning over the shoulder

    • Turns and signaling

    • Gear Shifting

     

    We'll meet at the Washington Park Natatorium, located at 102 Ollie St NW, Atlanta, GA 30314

    Please note that for participants under 18, a parent or guardian must accompany them throughout the entire class. 

    These free classes are provided with the support of the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety.

    Rolling Through Change

    Join us for a ride through Atlanta's evolving neighborhoods. Starting at the Gazebo at Lee + White, we'll explore the dynamic interplay of housing, development, and sustainable transportation. Our route includes stops at key locations like Oakland City MARTA, Allene Avenue, Capitol View, and more, each with its own story of growth and change. Engage in meaningful discussions at each stop, delving into urban planning, community advocacy, and connectivity challenges. Midway, we'll pause for lunch in Summerhill, fostering conversations and connections. Strap on your helmets for this insightful tour of Atlanta's heart and soul on wheels!
