Immediate Need: Get Kids Back on Bikes
Our Shifting Gears program, which provides free bike safety education to Atlanta’s kids in after-school programs, was hit hard when all of our bikes and helmets were stolen on March 4th.
We are heartbroken. Without them, children can’t learn to ride safely and confidently.
We are filing an insurance claim, but that process takes time. To restart the program quickly, we need immediate support to help get things up and running again while we assess damage to the trailer and other equipment. Early estimates suggest the total cost could be $10,000–$20,000+.
March 30 Update
Thanks to your support, we’ve raised enough to restart our Shifting Gears program after the recent theft. This includes $12,000 from 11 Atlanta City Councilmembers, showing how much this program means to our city.
Free Bikes 4 Kidz Atlanta also stepped in so classes could continue, with bikes that students will take home at the end of the program.
Because of you, kids across Atlanta can keep riding, learning, and building confidence. Thank you for making this possible.
