Recruiting now: Propel ATL Governing Board

  • Are you passionate about our work and mission and aligned with our values and areas of impact in the strategic plan?
  • Do you have fundraising experience and want to help us develop the resources necessary to achieve our goals?
  • Are you committed to racial justice and interested in how transportation and mobility can advance equity? 
  • Do you have special skills (such as marketing/communications) or areas of knowledge (such as advocacy for people with disabilities)? 
  • Are you looking for ways to get more involved in our efforts to build an Atlanta where everyone moves safely, easily, and sustainably throughout the city?

If any of these describe you, read on! We're seeking dedicated community members to join our Governing Board and help fulfill our expanded mission: to make Atlanta’s streets safe, inclusive, and thriving spaces for people to ride, walk, and roll.

The Governing Board supports our work and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the Propel ATL's staff, the board-staff relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected.

Governing Board members:

✅ Provide leadership, governance, and oversight

✅ Serve as a trusted advisor to the staff leadership as they develop and implement the strategic plan

✅ Uphold the organization's commitment to racial equity

✅ Review outcomes and metrics created to evaluate our impact

✅ Approve the annual budget and audit reports; stay informed of and meet all legal and fiduciary responsibilities

✅ Grow the organization inclusively and sustainably by actively seeking financial support 

✅ Serve on one or more committees; serve as an officer if called upon by the Board Chair

✅ Represent the organization to stakeholders; act as an ambassador

✅ Ensure our commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflect the entirety of the city of Atlanta

✅ Consider Propel ATL a philanthropic priority and make annual gifts that reflect that priority

✅ (optional) for the upcoming board cycle we're interested in candidates with communications and marketing expertise

Commitment

  • Quarterly: review materials and attend quarterly board meetings
  • Monthly: Join a committee and attend monthly committee meetings 
  • Ongoing: Participate in fundraising activities in order to grow the organization inclusively and sustainably, and be an ambassador for the organization, connecting us with your networks.

For terms beginning in FY2026 we're especially interested in people with financial or legal skills, training, and experience.
