The Problem
Promises Made. Projects Delayed.
In 2022, Atlanta voters approved $460 million for sidewalks, bike/scoot lanes, repaving, and safer crossings. But today, many projects still haven’t started — especially in the communities that need them most. ATLDOT faces a 24% vacancy rate and lacks the resources to deliver on what voters were promised.
If we want upward mobility and true public safety, we must fully fund ATLDOT in the FY2026 budget.
🧾 What the Audit Found
An independent audit of the Moving Atlanta Forward program paints a troubling picture:
-
Only 13% of total funds have been spent
-
Most sidewalk and safety projects are still in design
-
Transparency is limited — it’s hard for residents to track project progress
-
ATLDOT points to staff shortages and poor coordination as major barriers
