2023 Blinkie Awardees

The 2023 Blinkie Awards took place Wednesday, May 3 at The Eastern in Reynoldstown. Open to the public, the Blinkie Awards is a party and fundraiser that celebrates the contributions of Atlantans working to make city streets safe and accessible for everyone to bike, walk and roll. Read more for this year's awardees.

2023 Blinkie Awards winners include:

  • Partnership for Southern Equity, which advances policies and institutional actions that promote racial equity and shared prosperity for all in the growth of metropolitan Atlanta and the American South. Propel ATL recognizes Partnership for Southern Equity as the 2023 Advocacy Partner of the Year for their work on the Metro Atlanta Racial Equity Atlas and participation in the Atlanta Transit Coalition
  • Radical Adventure Riders Atlanta, which creates inclusive spaces in the cycling community through gender inclusivity and racial equity. They center the experiences of BIPOC, queer, trans, and nonbinary riders. Propel ATL recognizes Radical Adventure Riders Atlanta as the 2023 Expanding The Movement Award winner.
  • Naoya Wada joined Propel ATL’s board in 2015 (when it was still the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition). Naoya channeled his love of cycling and commitment to sustainable and equitable transportation into his work as a board member. As Board Chair, he was instrumental in  strengthening and expanding Propel ATL’s mission and guiding the organization's rebrand to Propel ATL. For his many contributions Propel ATL honors Naoya with the Founder’s Award.

The awards are dedicated to the memory of Angela D’Amario, founder of PR firm Fire Bee, longtime Propel ATL volunteer, and 2022 Blinkie Award winner, who passed away on April 8, 2023.

The 2023 Blinkie Awards will be hosted by Atlanta comedian David Perdue. David was named one of Atlanta’s “People to Watch” by Creative Loafing. He is one of nine comedians who participated in Generation 180's inaugural Climate Comedy Cohort –  a fellowship bringing comedians together to learn and create material about climate change & solutions. David co-hosts the political/comedy podcast The Confused Caucus, but as his bio notes, “most importantly, he is NOT a former US Senator.”

In addition to inspirational stories from our award winners, we’ll have Mike Zarin of Zegi spinning music, food and drinks from the Eastern, free bike valet service from Two Wheel Valet, and door prizes representing our walk, bike, roll, and ride transit mission. Confirmed attendees include Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Atlanta City Councilmember Post 2 At-Large Matt Westmoreland.

The 2023 Blinkie Awards are sponsored by the Office of Councilmember Matt Westmoreland, Bike Law Georgia, AARP Georgia, Seven and Finley Street Cottages, Natural Resources Defense Council, Southern Environmental Law Center, Outback Bikes, Lime, Fire Bee, and Zegi, with door prizes provided by Edison Bicycles, Big Peach Running Co., Muchacho, and MARTA
