Fun fact: Bike Month — which celebrates all the ways people bike — was established way back in 1956! Bike Month 2024 is teeming with ways to celebrate getting around on two wheels in Atlanta, and we’ve got the low-down for you.
Many organizations around metro Atlanta are celebrating Bike Month with group rides, bike maintenance classes, bike challenges, and more. Check out the Bike Month offerings from Midtown Alliance, Love to Ride Atlanta, and Red Bike and Green.
Consider downloading the Love to Ride Atlanta app–it automatically tracks all your bike miles and makes it easy to give anonymous feedback about your bike routes to local planners.
And, from May 5-19, you’ll qualify for prizes when you ride. As Love to Ride puts it, “It's the perfect time to try a new route, swap a short car ride for a bike trip, and encourage others to join you for a spin.”

Sunday, May 19: Atlanta Streets Alive
Although it’s not an official Bike Month activity, we can think of no better way to cap off this month of two-wheeled mobility than Atlanta Streets Alive, which closes down three miles of Peachtree Street to car traffic and opens it up to people on foot, skates, bikes, wheelchairs, and skateboards. Come join the party!
