Community Walk Audits

A walk audit is a guided community walk that identifies barriers and builds support for safer, more accessible streets for everyone.

A walk audit is:

01 A pedestrian-safety assessment

Looks at how people experience streets, sidewalks, crossings, and intersections.

02 A structured community-engagement activity

Centers the experiences of people who use the area.

03 A way to document barriers and opportunities

Identifies opportunities for safer, more accessible streets.

04 A relationship-building and leadership-development tool

Brings neighbors and community leaders together around shared priorities.

05 Evidence for action

Supports agency conversations, project accountability, grant reporting, public comment, media, and organizing.

06 A holistic, cross-team collaboration opportunity

Connects community members, advocates, agencies, and partners around what people need to move safely.

How Propel ATL does walk audits

Propel ATL works with community members and partners to plan and lead walk audits where people live, work, learn, and move. Together, we walk the route, observe conditions, document what we see and hear, and identify opportunities for action. We use what we learn to inform advocacy, engage decision-makers, and support community-led efforts for safer streets.
