Glenwood Avenue Community Walk Audit

Access for All: Making All Transportation Options Work on Glenwood Avenue

Make a positive change in the communities along the Glenwood Avenue corridor that leads to a safer, more accessible, more comfortable walking environment for all ages.

Join us for a community walk audit to show what it’s really like to move along Glenwood Avenue without a car and to help shape practical solutions.

We’ll walk together to observe conditions—like missing or narrow sidewalks, unsafe or hard-to-reach crosswalks, and difficult routes to bus stops, stores, schools, and apartments—and identify changes that could make the corridor safer and more comfortable.

Your experience on Jonesboro Road will help build the case for improvements that reflect how people actually use the street.

What We Will Do
  1. Guided Walk Audit: Use a survey based on the AARP walk audit tool and Pedestrian Environmental Quality Index to observe and evaluate the walkability of Glenwood Avenue, highlighting what feels comfortable for walking, safety concerns, accessibility issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  2. Technical Support: Experienced advocates will lead discussion and offer technical insight during the walk audit to identify potential solutions and improvements that enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility.
  3. Summarize and Share: We will summarize the insights and proposed solutions gathered during the walk audit and share with residents and community partners. The summary will also be shared with transportation agencies and officials to advocate for necessary changes and improvements.
