Soon people on bikes will be able to make routine bicycle repairs at select MARTA rail stations across the system. MARTA is installing seven self-service, Dero bicycle repair kiosks equipped with the necessary tools for routine bike maintenance and repair, from tightening handlebars to pumping a flat tire. The Atlanta Downtown Improvement District and the City of Atlanta have completed construction on the protected two-way bike lane along Peachtree Center Avenue (between Peachtree Street and Edgewood Avenue) to provide a safe north-south cycling route through the heart of Downtown.  This protected bike lane will connect to other bikeways planned in Downtown on Peachtree Street, John Portman Boulevard, Edgewood Avenue and Auburn Avenue, as well as the citywide network proposed in Cycle Atlanta. Atlanta City Council voted unanimously to APPROVE the $250 million Infrastructure Bond project list Monday, May 4, after a lively discussion. Councilmembers previously asked for a breakdown of the project list by council district, an amendment that apparently was met, although we haven't seen the breakdown yet. Read more

In March, Atlanta voters approved a $250 million infrastructure bond that would repair roads, fix bridges, and add bike lanes and complete streets projects throughout Atlanta. Voters approved a draft project list, and Councilmembers will discuss (and potentially vote on) that list today. Read more
